After a mob war breaks out, Vito's sons: Sonny (James Caan), Tom Hagen (Robert Duvall), Fredo (John Cazale), and Michael (Al Pacino) are all thrust into the center of the family business to see which one of them will evolve the family business into the next era of the American Mafia.
